Desert Darby just edged archrival Record Assembly in the $40,000 Jersey Village for Texas-breds at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday night. Earlier in the meet, Desert Darby and Record Assembly finished in a dead-heat for the win in the $100,000 Star of Texas Stakes.

This time, Desert Darby ($5.80) won by a nose after stalking the early pace set by Record Assembly. Desert Darby covered the mile and a sixteenth over a fast track in 1:44.53. Jeremy Beasley rode the winner for trainer Steve Asmussen, who won the Jersey Village last year with Term Sheet.

Desert Darby earned $24,000 for the win, which was his ninth from 29 starts. He has career earnings of $363,760. Desert Darby races for Ken Quirk.
