Derby Watch rankings for March 31

Who's Hot, Who's Not

WHO'S HOT: The lone newcomer to the top 25 of Derby Watch is With a City, who was the upset winner of the Lane's End Stakes at Turfway Park last Saturday. Although the prize money he earned puts him in the starting field for the May 6 Kentucky Derby, Daily Racing Form's national handicapper, Mike Watchmaker, does not give him much chance. He is 80-1 on Watchmaker's future line for the Derby. Discreet Cat made a big move forward following his powerful victory in the United Arab Emirates Derby. He is now 12-1 on Watchmaker's line after being 40-1 a week ago.

WHO'S NOT: Noonmark was dropped from the top 25. The runner-up in the Swale Stakes, he is not being pushed to make the Derby. His next start will be either the Lexington Stakes at Keeneland or the Derby Trial at Churchill Downs. With a City was judged to be a more likely Derby starter at this point. Strong Contender, who was bumped from the Lane's End field because of insufficient earnings, is now 30-1 after being 25-1 a week ago.

ON THE BUBBLE: High Cotton rebounded from a disastrous 2006 debut to take the Rushaway Stakes at Turfway. Doc Cheney, Saint Augustus, and Sam's Ace are among the outsiders to watch in the Florida Derby on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.
