Derby Watch rankings for March 10

Who's Hot, Who's Not

WHO'S HOT: There are five newcomers - Deputy Glitters, Refinery, Sacred Light, Sharp Humor, and Sunriver - to this week's Derby Watch top 25. Sacred Light, who was second to Brother Derek in last week's Santa Catalina Stakes, is 30-1 on the Kentucky Derby future line set by Mike Watchmaker, Daily Racing Form's national handicapper. Refinery and Sunriver, recent allowance winners, are both 40-1, while Sam Davis runner-up Deputy Glitters and Swale Stakes winner Sharp Humor are both 60-1. Corinthian, who was 50-1 a week ago, is down to 15-1 after last Saturday's Fountain of Youth, in which he finished first but was disqualified and placed third.

WHO'S NOT: Five horses - Barbican, Great Point, Itsallboutthechase, Latent Heat, and Your Tent or Mine - were dropped because of either injury (Barbican, Latent Heat, and Your Tent or Mine) or poor performance (Great Point and Itsallboutthechase). Even though First Samurai was placed first via DQ in the Fountain of Youth, Watchmaker raised his price from last week's 8-1 to 10-1 this week.

ON THE BUBBLE: Discreet Cat, a dazzling winner last summer at Saratoga, is scheduled to make his 2006 debut this week at Nad al Sheba in Dubai. Laity captured the Battaglia Memorial at Turfway on Saturday.
