Derby update

Last week's losses by Kafwain and Badge of Silver in the Louisiana Derby have propelled Domestic Dispute to the top spot of the Derby Watch's top 25. He is down to 6-1 on the Kentucky Derby future line set by Mike Watchmaker, Daily Racing Form national handicapper.

The odds on Peace Rules, the Louisiana Derby winner, plummeted on Watchmaker's line from last week's 40-1 to 8-1, making him the co-second choice with Kafwain, Empire Maker, and Trust N Luck. New to this week's list are Ocean Terrace, who won the El Camino Real Derby, and Inamorato, who last weekend won a prep for the United Arab Emirates Derby.

Sky Mesa has not had a workout for three weeks, and has not been to the track to train for nearly that long. With his Derby prospects practically nil, he has been dropped from the top 25. Saintly Look also was dropped, because the Derby Watch committee judged Ocean Terrace and Inamorato better candidates at this point.

With so many important preps this weekend, there should be opportunities for new faces to join the list. Cherokee's Boy and Gimmeawink, both scheduled to run in Sunday's Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct, are among those who could move onto the list with excellent performances this weekend.
