Derby Update

Sinister G, the upset winner of the Lane's End Stakes, and Purge, who finished second in the Rebel Stakes, are the newest additions to the top 25 of Derby Watch. Sinister G is a 30-1 shot on the Kentucky Derby future line set by Mike Watchmaker, Daily Racing Form's national handicapper. Watchmaker has Purge at 40-1. Smarty Jones, who ran his unbeaten streak to five in the Rebel, was lowered to 30-1 from 50-1 last week.

Mr. Jester and Redskin Warrior were dropped from the top 25 after poor performances in the Rebel and Gotham Stakes, respectively. Birdstone was raised by Watchmaker to 25-1 from last week's 10-1 following his fifth-place finish in the Lane's End. Eddington's price also rose, from 12-1 to 20-1, after he finished third in the Gotham.

There should be little or no change to the top 25 over the next week, since this weekend's stakes races are of little consequence. Consecrate runs in Sunday's WinStar Derby at Sunland Park. Saturday's United Arab Emirates Derby features Godolphin Racing Inc. runners who were not even nominated to the Triple Crown.
