Derby update

There are three newcomers to this week's top 25 of Derby Watch - Limehouse, Redskin Warrior, and Spellbinder. Redskin Warrior, who won the Best Turn Stakes at Aqueduct in his last start, is 30-1 on the future line set by Mike Watchmaker, Daily Racing Form's national handicapper. Watchmaker has Limehouse and Spellbinder at 40-1. Spellbinder is making his second appearance on the list. He was dropped two weeks ago, even though he had not raced that week, when others were deemed superior, but has reappeared because of defections from one week ago. Eddington, 30-1 last week, is now 15-1 following his powerful allowance victory last weekend at Gulfstream.

Capac and Gran Prospect were dropped after they lost in relatively soft spots last week. Silver Wagon is out of action following surgery to remove bone chips from his knees. Smarty Jones won the Southwest, but did not impress Watchmaker, who raised his price from 40-1 to 50-1.

Silver Minister, the terror of Turfway Park, won last week's Battaglia Memorial Stakes for his fourth straight victory. Shaniko, who was dropped from the list after losing an allowance race at Gulfstream three weeks ago, could move back on the list should he pull off an upset in Sunday's Louisiana Derby.
