When juvenile racing heats up this summer and fall, all eyes will now be on two 2-year-olds who got big catalog updates from their siblings’ performances under the twin spires over the weekend. Egyptian Storm is a half-sister to Kentucky Derby winner Justify, while Cowboy Diplomacy is a full brother to Kentucky Oaks heroine Monomoy Girl. Egyptian Storm, by classic sire Pioneerof the Nile and out of the Grade 3-placed Ghostzapper mare Stage Magic, sold for $230,000 to R.S. Evans and West Point Thoroughbreds at last fall’s Keeneland September yearling sale. Stage Magic, who raced as a homebred for Glennwood Farm, also has a yearling colt by Will Take Charge, and delivered a Pioneerof the Nile colt on April 19. Cowboy Diplomacy, by Tapizar and out of the winning Henny Hughes mare Drumette, was offered by Gainesway at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale. He sold for $175,000 to Pocket Aces Racing. Drumette also has a yearling colt by Palace Malice. :: Get breeding & sales news, Beyer info, and more delivered right to your email!
