Deputy Etbauer holds on at Oaklawn

Deputy Etbauer withstood a stretch bid from Tricky Etbauer to win the $50,000 Rainbow Miss Stakes by a half-length at Oaklawn Park on Friday. It was another four lengths back in third to My Dakota.

Deputy Etbauer ($29.40) was prominent throughout in the six-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies bred in Arkansas. She moved to the lead through an opening quarter in 22.57 seconds and dueled with Gone Dixie through a half-mile in 46.86, shaking her off into the stretch. Deputy Etbauer held off a fast-closing Tricky Etbauer in the final sixteenth.

Deputy Etbauer covered the distance on a fast track in 1:12.69. Carlos Gonzalez rode the winner for trainer Sherman Savoie. Deputy Etbauer earned $30,000 for the win, which was her second from four starts. She came into the race off a 4 1/2-length win in a maiden special weight for Arkansas-breds at Oaklawn on Feb. 17.

Deputy Etbauer races for William T. Reed. She was bred in Arkansas by Kaaren Biggs. She is by Etbauer, as is Tricky Etbauer.
