Tepin finishes strongly under Miguel Mena to win the Delta Princess at 7-2.

VINTON, La. - Tepin reeled in Bahnah in the stretch to win the first stakes race of her young career in the Grade 3, $500,000 Delta Downs Princess. Bahnah was a clear second as the favorite, by 5 1/4 lengths over Concave.

The Delta Princess was one of eight stakes on a card worth more than $2 million. The centerpiece of the program was the Grade 3, $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot.

Tepin ($9) settled in fourth as Zip On jumped out to the lead and was clear through fractions of 22.90 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.50 for the half-mile. Bahnah overtook the leader through six furlongs in 1:12.50 and looked on her way to the victory until Tepin got in gear in the stretch. Tepin covered the mile on a track rated fast in 1:38.95.

Miguel Mena rode the winner for Robert F. Masterson and trainer Mark Casse.

Tepin came into the Delta Downs Princess off a third-place finish in the $60,000 Rags to Riches at Churchill Downs, a race in which she encountered some trouble, said Casse. The winner is a daughter of Bernstein and a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Vyjack. She was bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall.

Tepin earned $300,000, for what was her second career win from four career starts. She was a maiden winner at Keeneland.

The remaining order of finish in the Princess was Synapse in fourth, followed by Miss Behaviour, Zip On, and Appreciating.
