Delta Princess champion Rose to Gold will follow Florida path to Kentucky Oaks
Email
Rose to Gold, who won the Grade 3, $500,000 Delta Downs Princess on Saturday, will be put on a path to the Kentucky Oaks, her trainer, Sal Santoro, said on Sunday. She is based at Calder, and her winter agenda will include starts at Gulfstream Park.
“I think were looking at the Davona Dale and the Gulfstream Oaks, and if everything goes good, the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs,” said Santoro.
Santoro on Sunday said it is yet to be determined if Rose to Gold would race before the Davona Dale, a Grade 2, $250,000 race on Feb. 23.
“If we she feel she needs a race we’ll take a good look at the Gulfstream condition book and see what’s there,” said Santoro, who trains Rose to Gold for Kathleen Amaya and Raffaele Centofanti.
Rose to Gold remained perfect on dirt with her win in the Princess. She rallied from just off the pace in the one-mile stakes and earned a Beyer Figure of 80. Santoro said she emerged from the race in good order on Sunday.
“The reports that I got is that she ate a hole in the feed tub last night,” he said. “Her groom said he had a lot of trouble walking her this morning. She dragged him all over the shed.”
Rose to Gold was scheduled to van out of Delta on Sunday, putting her on schedule to arrive at Calder around 10 a.m. Monday.
