Delta: Miss Confusion the speed

Miss Confusion might be able to steal the show Saturday night at Delta Downs in the $40,000 Lagniappe, a one-mile race for fillies and mares who have never won a stakes.

Miss Confusion appears to be the lone speed in the Lagniappe. She also is returning to the distance of her last victory.

In her last race she finished a close second in the $50,000 Golden Triangle. The Golden Triangle was run over 6 1/2 furlongs at Delta, and Miss Confusion set much of the pace in the race before being overtaken. Before that race, Miss Confusion won a one-mile conditioned allowance by 7 3/4 lengths at Delta on Nov. 6.

James Avant has the mount for trainer Frank Leggio.

Other leading contenders in the Lagniappe include the stakes-placed Sanibel Sunset, who will make her third start back from a four-month layoff for trainer Cole Norman, and Playa Maya, who will be ridden by Shane Sellers.
