Hit the Road Lee will have to fight off invaders Brethren and Shared Property to win his fourth consecutive race in Saturday night’s $70,000 Borgata at Delta Downs. The one-mile race for 4-year-olds and up is restricted to horses that have made at least one start at the Vinton, La., track since Oct. 18. Brethren, who is in from Oaklawn off a fourth-place finish in the Grade 3, $150,000 Razorback Handicap, is eligible for the Borgata after running in the $150,000 Delta Mile last November. He finished second in the race. Shared Property, who is based at Fair Grounds, raced in Vinton in his last start, and won an optional $15,000 claimer Dec. 27. The Borgata closes out the Delta meet, which has been a memorable one for Hit the Road Lee. He has won 4 of 5 starts in Vinton since his first race at the meet Nov. 3, including three wins since he was claimed for $10,000 by trainer Keith Bourgeois. The 6-year-old Hit the Road Lee began his current streak one start later, in a $15,000 starter allowance Jan. 11. He proceeded to win the $70,000 Premier Night Starter on Feb. 2 with a career-high Beyer Figure of 99, and the $50,000 Fremont in his most recent out March 2.
