Delray Dew favored in Wild Rose

ALTOONA, Iowa - Delray Dew, the 120-pound highweight and likely favorite, heads a field of six in the $60,000 Wild Rose Handicap for fillies and mares at Prairie Meadows.

Delray Dew enters the Wild Rose, a 1 1/16-mile event, off an easy 3 1/2-length victory over allowance company here at a mile June 4. A 4-year-old daughter of Devil His Due, Delray Dew has captured two of her three starts since being claimed for $45,000 in late February at Aqueduct by her owner, Des Moines area attorney Maggie Moss.

Overall, Delray Dew has won nine of her 18 career starts and more than $218,000. Dick Clark, all-time leading trainer at Prairie Meadows, trains Delray Dew and has named Glenn Corbett to ride.

Rodeo Fan is a possible upsetter on Saturday. A 5-year-old daughter of Tactical Advantage, she rallied to capture a mile allowance event here by a neck May 20 in her most recent start. The win was her first in six starts in 2002 and the eighth of her career. Cindy Noll has a return call in the Wild Rose for owner Thunderhead Farm and trainer Don Von Hemel. She gets in at 115 pounds.
