Delp joins Fair Grounds Hall

Trainer Bud Delp and the wonderful racemare Silverbulletday head this year's class of seven inductees into the Fair Grounds Hall of Fame.

Delp, who trained Spectacular Bid, won the Fair Grounds training title in the 1980-1981 season, and won the Louisiana Derby and Risen Star Stakes with Dispersal in 1989. After a long absence, Delp stabled at Fair Grounds again this year, winning the New Orleans Handicap with Include.

Silverbulletday, champion at 2 and 3 won the Davona Dale and Fair Grounds Oaks in 1999. The Oaks now bears her name.

Joining Delp in the Hall will be longtime track veterinarian Claude Mauberret; New Orleans businessman Sylvester W. Labrot, Jr.; and trainer Joey Dorignac III. The horses Scott's Scoundrel and Spanish Play also were elected.

The new members will officially be inducted during a ceremony conducted March 9, 2002, the night before the Louisiana Derby.
