Deliburnsky has up-front style

Deliburnsky goes for his third win in the $75,000 Dave's Friend for 2-year-olds at Laurel on Saturday afternoon.

Trained by Tony Wilson, Deliburnsky has made all his starts at Monmouth Park. He won a maiden event July 25 in front-running style. In his next out, Sept. 3 in the Grade 3 Sapling, Deliburnsky had trouble at the start and was rushed up to contest the pace before giving way in the stretch to finish ninth. In his last race Oct. 29, Deliburnsky won in front-running style again, this time in the $60,000 Jersey Juvenile by six lengths.

That event was at the same six-furlong distance as the Dave's Friend. Regular rider Pedro Cotto retains the mount.

Glib, who drew the rail, has a stalking style that should be effective in this speed-laden field. Trained by John Robb, Glib won at first asking Aug. 27 by 7 1/4 lengths at Charles Town. In his only Laurel out, on Oct. 1, he won the Maryland Million Nursery by 4 1/2 lengths. Glib earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 78 in the Nursery, the highest of any of the starters in the Dave's Friend. In his most recent race Nov. 6, he finished third in the Lord Henry at Aqueduct. Mario Pino retains the mount.

Others in the field include Champ's Metal, Trippi's Secret, Field Artillery and the entry of Doe and Oil Rig.
