Delaware: Umpateedle avenges loss

Last year, Umpateedle was no match for Ebony Breeze in the Grade 3 at Delaware Park. On Saturday, it was the other way around.

Umpateedle, a 6-year-old mare owned by Michael Gill and trained by Mark Shuman, pulled a 10-1 upset in the $200,000 Endine, a race in which she finished second in 2004. Sensibly Chic, the 2-1 second choice, was 2 1/2 lengths behind Umpateedle in second, followed by Ebony Breeze, the 6-5 favorite.

Ridden by Aaron Gryder, Umpateedle ($23.40) hung back off early fractions of 22.29 seconds and 45.45 before moving up outside to finish the six furlongs in 1:10.18.

* Trapped Again ($8.60) held off favored Separato by a length to win the $100,000 DTHA Owners' Day Handicap, covering 1 1/8 miles in 1:50.55 for trainer Michael Gorham. Play Bingo was another four lengths back in third.

* Coherent ($52) lit up the tote board with a half-length victory in the $100,000 George Rosenberger Memorial for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on turf.
