Delaware: Two bet, one shines in Blue Hen

Only five ran in the $75,000 Blue Hen for 2-year-old fillies at Delaware Park, and only two of them took much money - Gnome's Delight, who went off at 2-1, and Bon Jovi Girl, the 1-2 favorite.

In the end, the two had starkly different results. Bon Jovi Girl won easily, by six lengths, hugging the rail all the way around in the 1 1/16-mile race. Gnome's Delight pressed the pacesetting Bolyen, loomed a neck off the lead on the turn, then fizzled out, finishing last.

Bon Jovi Girl, ridden by Jose Caraballo for trainer Tim Ritchey, was timed in 1:46.22.

Bolyen outran her 6-1 odds, leading from the start, staving off bids by Gnome's Delight and Boom Town Sally turning for home, and finishing a clear second to complete a $12.80 exacta. Boom Town Sally ended up four lengths behind her in third.

A daughter of Mailbu Moon, Bon Jovi Girl gained her third win in six lifetime starts and raised her earnings to $166,620. She had run fourth in the Grade 1 Alcibiabes at Keeneland in her previous start on Oct. 3.
