Delaware Park will experiment by starting its season almost two weeks later than usual and racing on Thursdays rather than Tuesdays during its 75th year of live racing in 2012.
The track, located just south of Wilmington, will race 100 days from Saturday, May 12 to Nov. 3. Last year, Delaware hosted 106 days of live racing from April 30 to Saturday, Nov. 5.
The four-day-a-week racing schedule will run Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday with first post time of 1:15 p.m. Eastern.
As usual, the track’s premier events will be the Grade 2 Delaware Oaks on July 14 and the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap on July 21. The remainder of the stakes schedule has yet to be finalized.
Delaware announced that the first condition book will be available soon at the Delaware Park website at www.delawarepark.com and will be mailed to horsemen in the next few days.

Facing a shallow field of maiden-20 for fillies and mares, second-time starter MISS MADDIE BEE can be long gone at a short price. She dueled through a hot pace before tiring in her maiden-40 debut, but now shortens to five and one-half furlongs, drops to the bottom, and figures to clear the field. Adios. AWESOMEKAYLEE has a pair of good-looking gate works the past two weeks, and makes her career debut against a shallow group. Sired by Awesome Again, she is the first foal out of 9-for-38 mare Getcozywithkaylee. LOVE MY GIRL was well-backed in her comeback, but lost her rider.
