Delaware: Silver Axe rallies

Email

In his 60th lifetime start, the 8-year-old gelding Silver Axe closed ground in the stretch under Ramon Dominguez to catch Trapped Again and earn a neck victory in the $55,000 Shecky Green Stakes at Delaware.

A narrow favorite over Trapped Again, Silver Axe ($4.60) sat back early in the 1 1/16-mile race, then moved into contention on the far turn and ran down Trapped Again 40 yards from the wire. Though he didn't have enough left to hold off the winner, Trapped Again finished 4 3/4 lengths ahead of third-place Separato.

Silver Axe, trained by Tom Amoss for Maggi Moss, covered the distance in 1:37.67 on a track rated fast.
