Delaware: Ima Jersey Girl, Winiliscious try to avoid bouncing in Crowned
By Joe DeVivo
Email
Ima Jersey Girl and Winiliscious, a pair of fillies who soared to career-best Beyer Speed Figures last time out, will try to avoid bouncing when they meet in the $50,000 Crowned, the closing-day feature at Delaware Park.
The 1 1/16-mile race drew a field of seven fillies and mares.
The 4-year-old Ima Jersey Girl has had about six weeks to recover from a 12 1/2-length romp that was worth a 90 Beyer – a 24-point improvement from her previous start – in the Jersey Girl Handicap for New Jersey-breds at Monmouth Park. The last time she won with a career top last fall, Ima Jersey Girl regressed 21 points on the Beyer scale.
The 3-year-old Winiliscious steps up to stakes company after reeling off four straight wins between Monmouth and Parx. She improved 17 points to an 84 Beyer in her most recent victory in a second-level optional $25,000 claimer.
The field also includes Bryan’s Jewel, who switches surfaces after winning the George Rosenberger Memorial on turf two weeks ago, and Withgreatpleasure, who won a similar overnight stakes in her only other visit to Delaware in August.
* Status Symboll, a winner of his last three races, heads a field of 11 in the Grade 1, $75,000 Delaware Park Arabian Classic Handicap at 1 1/4 miles.
Best Bets
MOST HAPPY FELLA, reclaimed from last, drops to easier spot after setting pressured pace vs. odds-on Pinball; both wins last year came on this track. ARTIE LUVSTO PARTY has a knack for surprises, with three lifetime wins coming at 33-1, 17-1 & 11-1 (two on this track); entrymate EQUIVOCATION gets major rider switch first off a claim. PURE ATTITUDE among top 3 in wins & earnings and snug fit to date clause.
