Delaware horsemen to hold inaugural stallion season auction

The Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association will hold its inaugural stallion season auction from Feb. 25-27.

Bids will be taken by phone at (302) 994-2521, extension 7284, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern each day. All proceeds will benefit the DTHA Winners Circle political action committee.

More than 30 stallions will be featured, representing farms in Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Louisiana, Indiana and West Virginia. The stallions whose seasons will be auctioned include classic winner Smarty Jones; Wiseman’s Ferry, sire of Horse of the Year Wise Dan; Yankee Gentleman; Two Step Salsa; and Friesan Fire.

“We are thrilled by the overwhelming support of the farms that donated stallion seasons,” DTHA first vice president Nancy Nunley said. “We are also very excited to offer a season to Smarty Jones in our first inaugural auction.”
