Delaware: Hopelessly Devoted by 4

Hopelessly Devoted angled off the rail on the second turn, spurted from third to first, and drew off smartly to win the $175,000 Susan's Girl Breeders' Cup for 3-year-old fillies at Delaware Park.

Sent off as the fifth choice in the field of eight, Hopelessly Devoted ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.90 under and paid $15.40 to win, $7 to place, and $6.80 to show. The place and show mutuels were high, partly because Pawyne Princess, the 8-5 favorite was rushed to the lead, set the pace for six furlongs, and stopped, finishing last.

From Away, 27-1, closed fast to be second, beaten four lengths. Richetta was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third after pressing the pace, gaining a short lead after five furlongs, and then weakening in the drive.

A race earlier, favored Misty Sixes broke on top under Mario Pino and stayed there, winning the $100,300 Obeah Handicap by 2 1/2 lengths over 16-1 shot Redoubtable Miss. Nonsuch Bay was another 3 1/2 lengths back in third.

Misty Sixes ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:51.23 and paid $4.20.
