Delaware: Hesa Big Star wires

Hesa Big Star appeared on paper to be the speed of the $60,100 Mo Bay Stakes at Delaware Park, and that's just how it played out on the track.

Hesa Big Star broke to the lead from the rail in the five-furlong turf sprint and never was truly threatened, defeating Mr Mutter by 3 3/4 lengths, with Sandy's Gold another length back in third. Bingo Bear, the 9-5 favorite, finished fifth in the field of seven older horses.

Ridden by Jose Caraballo, Hesa Big Star covered the five furlongs on firm turf in 56.72 and paid $7.40. A 6-year-old Hesabull gelding, Hesa Big Star made it 2 for 3 this year, with his only loss a disqualification from a Pimilco optional claiming victory in May. Overall, he has won 7 of 20 starts and has earned about $180,000. He is owned by Granny Stable and trained by Howard Wolfendale.
