Delaware family fun day benefits disabled jockeys

Email

Delaware Park, the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, and the Delaware Jockeys’ Association will hold a family fun day benefit for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund on Saturday.

Retired rider Ramon Dominguez, the all-time leading rider at Delaware Park by wins, will be on hand as a representative of the PDJF.

Activities will include jockey autographs, a country-style barbecue, and pony rides and other activities for children.

The benefit is from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the picnic grove between the paddock area and the clubhouse turn.

In 2013, Delaware Park, the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, the Delaware Jockeys’ Health and Welfare Fund, and the Delaware Arabian Alliance committed to donate $20,000 annually for three years to the PDJF as part of the Ramon Dominguez retirement celebration held at the track.
