Delaware: Dance Away Capote wins easily

Dance Away Capote displayed no aftereffects of the illness that kept her out of the Kentucky Oaks when she cruised to a 5 1/2-length victory against five outmatched rivals in the $100,000 at Delaware Park.

Racing over a "good" track that had been sealed, Dance Away Capote ($2.80) sat patiently in fourth until jockey Ramon Dominguez asked her to move closer on the backstretch. She responded with a rush to take the lead from Last Toots leaving the far turn and was hand-ridden to the wire.

Gotta Rush, a 14-1 shot, overtook Last Toots in deep stretch for second.

Dance Away Capote covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:47.14.

"It's nice to get things together again," said winning trainer H. Graham Motion. "Scratching from the Kentucky Oaks was very frustrating, but it was just one those things. We gave her the time she needed to recover. Ramon said she felt stronger than ever."

Motion plans to run Dance Away Capote next in the $175,000 Susan's Girl Breeders' Cup on June 18 and then in the Grade 2 Delaware Oaks on July 16. Both are 1 1/16-mile races at Delaware Park.
