Delaware: Coastal Sunrise uses speed to capture Xtra Heat


Kentucky-based 2-year-old filly Coastal Sunrise remained perfect in three races on dirt by taking  the $50,375 Xtra Heat Stakes on Saturday at Delaware Park.

Ridden for the first time by Javier Santiago, Coastal Sunrise ($8.20) led from start to finish to score by 1 3/4 lengths while completing six furlongs on a fast track in 1:11.65.

Based at Churchill Downs with trainer Tom Amoss, Coastal Sunrise, a daughter of Congrats owned by Pop-A-Top LLC, is now 3 for 4 lifetime. Her only loss came on Tapeta at Presque Isle Downs.

Carry the Torch outfought Disco Barbie, the 7-5 favorite, to get second by a neck at 18-1.
