Delahoussaye hospitalized after spill

DEL MAR, Calif. - Jockey Eddie Delahoussaye was hospitalized Friday evening after being injured in a spill during the sixth race at Del Mar.

Delahoussaye's mount Seeisbelieving fractured his right front cannon bone and fell passing the half-mile pole of the turf race, throwing Delahoussaye to the ground. The 3-year-old gelding, trained by Mike Machowsky, was euthanized.

Delahoussaye was taken by ambulance to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for further examination. According to preliminary reports, the jockey sustained a contusion to his left temple, complained of neck pain, and had an undetermined injury to his left hip. Delahoussaye, 50, entered the Friday card as the sixth-leading rider with 19 wins from 108 mounts.

Pick six carryover for Saturday

No ticket was able to isolate all six winners in the pick six on Friday at Del Mar, creating a carryover of $137,728 into the Saturday card. The pick six is held on races 5-10 Saturday, and Del Mar Debutante favorite Santa Catarina is the most heavily fancied runner in the sequence. She is the 8-5 favorite in race 8.
