DEL MAR TRIFECTAS, SUPERFECTAS (RACE 4) by Marty McGee

KEY's - Imperial Fortune

B's - Navarre, Airfoil

C's - Crucero, Storm Power

It's no secret that Baffert excels in so many ways, and one of those is with stretchout horses such as Imperial Fortune (#5). The son of Empire Maker clearly has a go-long pedigree and should be prominent throughout after showing speed at shorter distances; there all the way. Key him first and second in vertical plays when using pricier entries such as Navarre (#3) and Airfoil (#8), who adds blinkers, while also salting in some tertiary keys in this sort of way: 5 with 3/8 with 1/3/6/8, and so forth.

DEL MAR PICK 4 (RACES 2-5) by Chuck Kuehhas

RACE 2

KEY's - SIR SEARSUCKER

SIR SEARSUCKER drops in half and cuts back to one turn out of pace stalking effort; ideally drawn outside for this seven furlong affair.

B's - TRIAL SPIN, GRANT

RACE 3

KEY's - BLACK N BEAUTY, ROYAL IMPORT, DEAL 'EM, MOMENT OF WEAKNESS

Will use half the field to varying degree.  BLACK N BEAUTY plunges to the bottom, but has three solid works since running here opening week; and three who finished a neck apart on August 9, ROYAL IMPORT, DEAL 'EM and MOMENT OF WEAKNESS, a race that came back quick for this level.

B's - ONLY THE GOLD

RACE  4

KEY's - NAVARRE, IMPERIAL FORTUNE

NAVARRE imports from France, where he raced for Andre Fabre. British-bred 4yo colt adds Lasix for stateside debut. IMPERIAL FORTUNE will be the one to catch, as he stretches out to two turns for Baffert.

B's - MIDNIGHT CASANOVA

C's - CRUCERO

RACE 5

KEY's - BROWN BOSS, TOMMY O, MY FRIEND JIMMY

Prefer those that haven’t lost on the turf in this class. Two of those are newcomers to the SoCal circuit; TOMMY O is now in the hands of Ron McAnally, exiting an ok race at Monmouth and MY FRIEND JIMMY, goes first time for Proctor and draws the services of Gary Stevens, but who's been wide the last few, though has some pace here to work with. BROWN BOSS is a 4yo Vronsky colt trying turf for the first time.

B's - CINCO DE MARIO, VERY UNUSUAL
