Del Mar: Tilde rallies to win Generous Portion; Bejarano gets 11th stakes win of meet
Email
DEL MAR, Calif. – Tilde, the 8-5 favorite, closed from fourth on the backstretch to win her second stakes of the Del Mar meeting Wednesday in the $150,000 Generous Portion Stakes.
Tilde was ridden by Rafael Bejarano, his 11th stakes win of the meeting. He is one away from equaling the record of 12 stakes wins in a single meeting shared by Laffit Pincay Jr. (1976), Chris McCarron (1995), Gary Stevens (1997), and Corey Nakatani (1998).
The meeting, which began July 18, ends Wednesday, Sept. 5.
In the Generous Portion, Tilde ($5.20) finished three-quarters of a length in front of 19-1 Awe’ Some Kitten in the field of nine California-bred 2-year-old fillies. Bejarano brought Tilde three wide on the turn to reach contention and took the lead in early stretch.
Tilde ran six furlongs in 1:11.42. Boller Bomb, an 8-1 chance, was third, finishing two lengths behind the winner, who was favored.

Tilde races for owner-trainer Mike Harrington. By Swiss Yodeler, Tilde has won 3 of 4 starts and $195,060. She beat maidens in her career debut at Betfair Hollywood Park on May 20 and was third in the Cinderella Stakes against open company there June 16.
In her Del Mar debut, Tilde won the CTBA Stakes for California-bred 2-year-old fillies over 5 1/2 furlongs by 3 1/2 lengths on July 20.
Harrington said after the Generous Portion Stakes that Tilde will be pointed to the $250,000 California Cup Juvenile Fillies over 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita on Oct. 13.
Bad ride by Nakatani? A 19-1 horse in second is bad? He was squeezed out of the gate, but that ride was excellent. Great stretch run.

Would of gotten beat if it wasn't for a bad ride by c. Nak or Quinonez

SCAT PATTY can lead gate to wire at a short price if she reproduces her most recent start. She ran well all three starts since claimed by Vladimir Cerin, including a runner-up finish last out at a six-furlong distance slightly out of reach. She finished more than four lengths clear of third, returns at the same class level ($25k claiming, N2L), and shortens to five and a half furlongs. On paper, she is long gone. METAXA will keep the top choice company while dropping in class from maiden-40 starter. CASSANDRA LYNNE has regressed since her winning debut, but drops to a new low.
