Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said he is eyeing the Grade 2, $500,000 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs on Sept. 8 as the next start for Rousing Sermon, who was second in the Real Good Deal Stakes on Aug. 3.
That was his second start since finishing eighth in the Kentucky Derby. He finished fourth in the Swaps Stakes after the Kentucky Derby.
“He came out of his last race very well,” Hollendorfer said Thursday morning. “He’s been very consistent. We’ll look at the Super Derby and also consider the Pennsylvania Derby,” which is two weeks later at Parx Racing.
Hollendorfer will be on the road quite a bit in upcoming weeks. He will run Nonios in the Travers and Via Villaggio in the Alabama at Saratoga this month.

DRINK OR SINK went too fast on the lead last time before fading on the turf at Tampa, and should be less aggressive here with blinkers off. Olguin was aboard for his good fall races on the Poly, and should have him closing at a square price in his second start of the year. GOOD BETTER BEST finished up the track behind two next-out winners when he tried the dirt for the first time March 30 at Gulfstream. He hasn't faced this easy a field in a while, and is no stranger to filling out the exactor.
