DEL MAR, Calif. - Sugarinthemorning ($3.60) led throughout Saturday’s $100,000 Fleet Treat Stakes for 3-year-old statebred fillies at Del Mar, recording her second consecutive stakes win.

Sugarinthemorning finished 3 1/4 lengths in front of Magic School, a 22-1 outsider in the field of five. Zenidekka finished third.

Ridden by Patrick Valenzuela, Sugarinthemorning set a slow pace of 23.96 and 47.54 seconds, and was hand-ridden to the wire, finishing seven furlongs in 1:22.90. Valenzuela said that Sugarinthemorning inherited the lead after expected pacesetter Zenidekka did not go to the front.

“I asked her to take the lead,” Valenzuela said. “When they got near me at the three-sixteenths pole, I threw her a cross and she took off. I never hit her.”

Sugarinthemorning won the Manhattan Beach Stakes over six furlongs on turf in June. Owned by Stephen Weissman and Samantha Clement and trained by Ron McAnally, Sugarinthemorning has won 5 of 9 starts and $227,834.
