INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Pure Loyalty got within a neck of the heavily favored Rosengold at the finish of the Tsunami Slew Stakes on June 23. The performance has left trainer Mark Glatt eager to try Pure Loyalty in Wednesday’s $100,000 Oceanside Stakes for 3-year-olds over a mile on turf.

“He ran awful well the other day because Rosengold had everything his own way,” Glatt said.

Rosengold led throughout the Tsunami Slew Stakes over a mile. The Oceanside Stakes also is run over a mile and could be divided into two divisions.

Glatt is hoping that Pure Loyalty can be effective from off the pace. Gary Stevens is booked to ride Pure Loyalty.

Aside from Rosengold, a three-time stakes winner this year, the leading candidates for the Oceanside are Know More, who won the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes at Del Mar last summer; Joelito, winner of an optional claimer at Hollywood Park on May 30; and Den’s Legacy and Rising Legend, the first two finishers of the Generous Stakes at Hollywood Park last November.
