Point Cadet, 3, is the first horse that owners Robert and Lawana Low have placed with trainer Mike Mitchell, according to Mitchell’s assistant, Phil D’Amato. A daughter of Distorted Humor out of the Turkoman mare Turko’s Turn, Point Cadet was purchased at the Saratoga yearling sale two summers ago.

“She’s a big, gangly filly who just needed time to mature,” D’Amato said Monday morning.

◗ Know More, who won the Best Pal Stakes in his debut earlier this month for trainer Doug O’Neill, worked five furlongs in 1:01 on Monday morning, and went so easily that track clockers termed the move breezing, the only work so designated among 112 on Monday. Currently trained by Leandro Mora, Know More is scheduled to run in the Grade 1, $300,000 Del Mar Futurity on closing day Sept. 5.

◗ Jockey Martin Garcia is one victory away from career win number 1,000. He has three mounts on Wednesday.
