Del Mar pick six pays $22,000


DEL MAR, Calif. - The pick six paid $22,636 at Del Mar to 47 ticketholders on Wednesday for a sequence that had only one winning favorite.

The pick six began on Wednesday with a carryover of $265,129 from Sunday. Bettors added $1,486,696 to the pool.

The winners of Wednesday’s pick six races were Spring Breeze ($8.60), Clenor ($3.80), Derek’s Girl ($7.20), Wednesday ($19.20), Concave ($8.60) and Suances Pride ($11).

Clenor, a 2-year-old Irish import, was the only winning favorite, taking a maiden race on turf. Concave won the Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes for 2-year-old fillies over 6 1/2 furlongs. Clenor and Concave are trained by Doug O’Neill.

I posted that Doug O'Neill would not have a single winner in the P6. I was dead wrong and stand corrected.

Ran second in the race won by Wednesday. Ended up with 5 on a $72.00 ticket. Hindsight is 20/20 I know, but I was seriously thinking of singling Clenor and spreading in the race I lost. DAMN IT! lol

Thought the Delmar Pick-6 would have paid better. However the bigger the pool the more it attracts chasers.
