Del Mar pick six carryover reaches $180,094

DEL MAR, Calif. - A longshot winner in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks - Golden Apples ($44) - helped to create a pick six carryover of $180,094 on Sunday at Del Mar.

Sunday's program, which begins at 12:30 p.m., features the $1 million Pacific Classic, the richest race of the meeting, and a guaranteed pick six pool of $1 million.

The pick six promotion was in place before the pool carried over from Saturday's races, and now there is little doubt it will hit seven-figures on its own.

Sunday's pick six covers the fifth through 10th races, beginning with the Pacific Classic. Run over 1 1-4 miles, the race features six runners, including Skimming, the 8-5 favorite to defend his title.

In the sixth race, for maiden sprinters, No Socks Doc, a troubled third in his debut, and Decision, third behind Millennium Wind last November, will be well-backed.

The seventh race, a one-mile allowance race, is led by Wild Roar, an impressive maiden winner on July 28. Gabrellina Giof, second in the Grade 2 San Clemente Handicap, heads the eighth race, the Finlandia Cup Stakes over a mile on turf.

In the ninth race, Hot Warsaw Nights and Slippery When Bet lead a wide-open starter allowance over a mile. Slippery When Bet adds blinkers.

In the finale, for claimers on turf, Go will be favored on the basis of his three-length win on Aug. 4.
