Jaycito is one of three horses trainer Bob Baffert has for the Pacific Classic.

DEL MAR, Calif. - The Pacific Classic may draw a field of 10, including Hollywood Gold Cup winner Game On Dude and Richard’s Kid, the winner of the 2009 and 2010 Pacific Classic. Both are trained by Bob Baffert, who will also start Jaycito.

Other candidates are Amani, the Chilean star mare who was third in her U.S. debut in the Grade 1 Clement Hirsch Stakes on Aug. 4; Rail Trip, John Scott and Kettle Corn, the first three finishers of the San Diego Handicap on July 28; the Calder stakes winner Where’s Sterling; Dullahan, the winner of the Blue Grass Stakes in April; and Suggestive Boy, who won the Wickerr Stakes on turf on July 25.

The Pacific Classic is run over 1 1/4 miles.“A mile and a quarter will suit her,” trainer Neil Drysdale said.Baffert said that Coil, the winner of the 2011 Haskell Invitational, will be nominated to the Pacific Classic, but that the 4-year-old’s main goal this month is the $250,000 Pat O’Brien Stakes over seven furlongs on Aug. 26. Coil won an optional claimer over seven furlongs on July 26.

I'm looking at Richard's Kid to match Game on Dude with his new trainer. It should be interesting to see their run as real competitors.

Amani would be an interesting entrant. Should she enter I would definitely consider her for an upset.

Suggestive boy... got a big shot..

Amani finished like a freight train in that race and my guess is the price on her will be square.

Put him in your watch to catch his next race.

Unless my watch missed it Take Control hasn't had a recorded workout since the San Diego so there must be an issue with him as he's begging for a mile and a quarter. Too bad as I was looking forward to playing him as well!

Baffert stopped on him. Back to the sidelines for Take Control. I also thought he had a legit shot.

Getting at least 60 days off, but Baffert hinted that he could be shut down for the season...again. Big disappointment for me, too.

Last week I guess something started acting up again. It's possibly his shins, which he's had a problem with his whole career. Bob's giving him 60 days of rest and hopefully we'll see him again down the road.

Not surprised that Take Control had problems last out as NO A.P. Indy has EVER won on the main track at Del Mar (24-0-0-2).
