DEL MAR, Calif. - The Pacific Classic may draw a field of 10, including Hollywood Gold Cup winner Game On Dude and Richard’s Kid, the winner of the 2009 and 2010 Pacific Classic. Both are trained by Bob Baffert, who will also start Jaycito.
Other candidates are Amani, the Chilean star mare who was third in her U.S. debut in the Grade 1 Clement Hirsch Stakes on Aug. 4; Rail Trip, John Scott and Kettle Corn, the first three finishers of the San Diego Handicap on July 28; the Calder stakes winner Where’s Sterling; Dullahan, the winner of the Blue Grass Stakes in April; and Suggestive Boy, who won the Wickerr Stakes on turf on July 25.

Amani was beaten 1 3/4 lengths by Include Me Out in the Clement Hirsch over 1 1/16 miles. The Pacific Classic is run over 1 1/4 miles.“A mile and a quarter will suit her,” trainer Neil Drysdale said.Baffert said that Coil, the winner of the 2011 Haskell Invitational, will be nominated to the Pacific Classic, but that the 4-year-old’s main goal this month is the $250,000 Pat O’Brien Stakes over seven furlongs on Aug. 26. Coil won an optional claimer over seven furlongs on July 26.

Drysdale aint in the Hall of Fame for nothing...Will be backing his horse all the way...Definitley agree with Mick and Eric

I'm looking at Richard's Kid to match Game on Dude with his new trainer. It should be interesting to see their run as real competitors.

DULLAHAN...GIANT KILLER FROM THE "E"

Amani would be an interesting entrant. Should she enter I would definitely consider her for an upset.

Suggestive boy... got a big shot..
|
Amani finished like a freight train in that race and my guess is the price on her will be square.

MONCLOVA galloped out strongly after closing belatedly in her second trip postward May 26, from which the runner-up exited to graduate with a 68 Beyer. The daughter of Queen's Plate winner Niigon is bred to run long, and can break through with the stretchout from six and a half furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth. BE MIND PHIL is returning on short rest off a closing second in her debut, going a mile around one turn on the grass. She has a blend of speed and stamina in her pedigree.
