Game On Dude may face stablemate Spurrier in a large Pacific Classic field.

DEL MAR, Calif. – Santa Anita Handicap winner Game On Dude worked six furlongs in 1:12.80 on Wednesday at Del Mar in advance of the $1 million Pacific Classic on Aug. 28, a race likely to have a large field.

Second by a nose to stablemate First Dude in the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup on July 9, Game On Dude worked in company with another stablemate, Spurrier, on Wednesday. Spurrier started about five lengths in front, and the two finished together, trainer Bob Baffert said. Spurrier was timed in 1:14.20.

Baffert described Game On Dude’s workout as a “more serious drill” than recent workouts. Baffert said Spurrier could also start in the Pacific Classic, which is run over 1 1/4 miles and is the richest race of the meeting.

Aside from Game On Dude, the top contender for the Pacific Classic is Twirling Candy, who was third in the Hollywood Gold Cup. First Dude was recently retired because of a tendon injury.

Other expected starters are Acclamation, the winner of the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes on turf on July 24; Blind Luck, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2010; Bourbon Bay, the winner of the Cougar II Handicap on July 31;Tres Borrachos, the winner of the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap on July 30; as well as Caracortado, Jeranimo, Make Music For Me, Setsuko, and Victory Pete.

Stately Victor, the winner of the 2010 Blue Grass Stakes, may ship from trainer Mike Maker’s base in Kentucky. Acclamation, Bourbon Bay, Make Music For Me and Victory Pete are also candidates for the $200,000 Del Mar Handicap over 1 3/8 miles on turf on Aug. 28.
