DEL MAR, Calif. - Comma to the Top, a three-time stakes winner this year, has been sidelined with a sore foot that will prevent him from starting in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Santa Anita in November, trainer Peter Miller said.

Comma to the Top was fifth in the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes on July 28, and emerged from the race with an abscess in a foot, Miller said. Comma to the Top underwent a nuclear scan earlier this month, which did not reveal an extensive injury, the trainer said.

“I’ll let the foot grow out,” Miller said. “He’s had a long, hard campaign. We’re out of the Breeders’ Cup. We’re looking at 45 to 60 days off.”

Owned by Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum and Kevin Tsujihara, Comma to the Top, 5, has won 14 of 33 starts and $1,349,406. This year, he has won 3 of 8 starts, including two Grade 3 handicaps – the Tom Fool at Aqueduct on March 2 and the Los Angeles at Betfair Hollywood Park on May 27.
