DEL MAR, Calif. - The expected absence of the champion Acclamation from the $1 million Pacific Classic on Aug. 26 gives trainer Bob Baffert an even stronger chance to win the meeting's most lucrative race.

Baffert has three probable starters - Game On Dude, the winner of the Hollywood Gold Cup last month; Richard's Kid, who won the 2009 and 2010 Pacific Classic; and Jaycito, a Grade 1 winner in 2010 and the winner of an optional claimer here on July 22.

Acclamation, the champion older male of 2011 and the winner of the 2011 Pacific Classic, was diagnosed with inflammation below an ankle earlier this week, and is unlikely to start in the race, owner Bud Johnston said on Wednesday.

Wednesday, Jaycito and Richard's Kid worked six furlongs in company.

Jaycito had the early lead in the workout and finished about a neck in front of Richard's Kid. Jaycito was timed in 1:12.80, while Richard's Kid was clocked in 1:12.20.

"Jaycito worked really nice," Baffert said. "He wouldn't let that other horse go by him."
