DEL MAR, Calif. - Jaycito, who has promised far more than he has delivered since Baffert took over as his trainer 1 1/2 years ago, ended a five-race losing streak and scored only his second victory in an allowance race on Sunday under Joe Talamo.

Trainer Bob Baffert said he could add Jaycito to his lengthy list of candidates for the Grade 1, $1 million Pacific Classic on Aug. 26, including Coil, Game On Dude, Prayer for Relief, Richard’s Kid, and Take Control.
“He could be one for the Pacific Classic,” Baffert said. “He’s had problems with his feet, but they’re good now. Talamo told me if you sit on him he shuts down. The harder he rode him, the more he wanted to run.”
Jaycito’s only previous victory came in October 2010 in the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes when trained by Mike Mitchell.

Jaycito doesn't win if Bejarano doesn't open up the rail for his stablemate and purposely hit his horse left handed while coming up over 2 lanes to shut off the fastest closer #6. Hey CA Stewards...how many days for Bejarano on that race-fixin' move?

MONCLOVA galloped out strongly after closing belatedly in her second trip postward May 26, from which the runner-up exited to graduate with a 68 Beyer. The daughter of Queen's Plate winner Niigon is bred to run long, and can break through with the stretchout from six and a half furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth. BE MIND PHIL is returning on short rest off a closing second in her debut, going a mile around one turn on the grass. She has a blend of speed and stamina in her pedigree.
