Del Mar: Acclamation sidelined at least until the end of the month
Email
DEL MAR, Calif.– Acclamation will be out of training for the next few weeks while evaluations continue on the cause of inflammation in a foreleg that prevent him from starting in the $1 million Pacific Classic at Del Mar on Aug. 26.
Thursday morning at trainer Don Warren’s barn, Acclamation stood quietly at the back of his stall with his forelegs wrapped in ice bandages. Owner Bud Johnston said that Acclamation’s injury, inflammation below an ankle, is not severe, but will keep the 6-year-old out of training at least through August.
“He’s not sore,” he said. “You can put the tack on him and jog him, but he’ll miss some time and we can’t run in the Classic.
“Fortunately, it’s not real serious, but it will keep us from training for the next two or three weeks.”

The champion older male of 2011, Acclamation won the 2011 Pacific Classic and was a top contender to defend his title. The inflammation was detected earlier this week and did not subside through the week.
Acclamation is unbeaten in his last seven starts, all stakes. In his career, Acclamation has won 11 of 30 starts and $1,958,048.

Please take great care of him. He will win the Breeder's Cup if he stays healthy. Then retire him on top. Saw him win a few weeks ago at Del Mar. What a beauty.

OUR HEAT has a win and a second in two turf tries here. She has been favored both time but is meeting tougher today. Like her style, sitting back a bit early and then unleashing a strong closing kick. She seems to like the turf and graduated in a straight maiden grass race. The breeding is heavily slanted to turf. BEEZAROO has hit the board in her past five starts at this level. Has outrun her breeding on turf and scored her lone career victory over the Lakeside Turf Course. Rider chose top pick over her, but she's picked up leading ridder for this.
