Deeliteful Star won't be 21-1

Email

Deeliteful Star, who paid $45.20 when she returned from a 10-month layoff to defeat open company last month, figures to go be shorter odds when she takes on Virginia-bred fillies and mares in the $50,000 Brookmeade at Colonial Downs.

A 7-year-old mare trained by Edward Graham, Deeliteful Star scored by 2 1/4 lengths facing high-priced optional claimers going a mile on June 13. She's back at the same distance in the Brookmeade after finishing third in this race last year.

Trophy Collector, And a Cherry Tree, and Shesabopper - separated by a head and a neck as the first three finishers in the June 7 Oakley - will all try to stretch out from 5 1/2 furlongs. All three will be racing in a route for the first time, although Shesabopper did finish second in a two-turn, seven-furlong dirt race at Charles Town.

Molly Moon, trained by Graham Motion, tries to transfer her good synthetic track form to turf. She hasn't done better than third in three previous tries on grass.
