Dazzling Seville makes quick return

Dazzling Seville, a widening winner of the Columbus Maturity/Matron Stakes last Saturday, wheels back to face seven rivals in Sunday's $10,000 Bill Callihan Stakes for fillies and mares at Columbus.

Dazzling Seville has put together a good 2008 campaign, with a trio of wins from her nine starts and earnings of more than $35,000 for owner-trainer Cheryl LeGrande. Prior to her win in the Maturity, Dazzling Seville had a pair of solid runner-up finishes in the Matchmaker Stakes going a mile at Lincoln and in the Falls Amiss Handicap at Horsemen's Park. She will again have rider Luis Ranilla aboard.

Queensport has rapidly developed and may be capable of pulling off an upset. Following a win for a $5,000 tag in her first start here, she returned to take an optional claiming race on Aug. 9 for owner-trainer Bob Rising.

A pair of 3-year-olds, Co Sassy and Diamond Highway, will step up to face their elders. Co Sassy won the Inaugural Stakes here and then returned to take a third-level allowance in her most recent start for trainer Jim Compton. Diamond Highway, trained by Kelli Martinez, took on males in the Van Berg Derby and finished fourth, beaten seven lengths, in her Nebraska debut.

My Hobby won the Matchmaker Stakes at Lincoln on June 14 but has been a nonfactor in her last two starts. She tired in the Falls Amiss to finish well back, then made a middle move in the Maturity Stakes here before fading to fourth, beaten eight lengths.
