HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Dazzling Move launched her 2025 campaign defeating the odds-on Grand Job in the Grade 3 Royal Delta Stakes here last winter. She’ll try to end the season on a similar note when she and Grand Job meet again as the likely favorites in Friday’s $125,000 Rampart Stakes. The one-mile fixture for fillies and mares lured a field of nine, including a couple of Dazzling Move’s Saffie Joseph Jr. stablemates, Claret Beret and Luvumorgan. Making her first start since being transferred to Joseph’s stable nearly a year ago, Dazzling Move rallied from off a contentious pace to a three-quarter-length victory over Grand Job in the 1 1/16-mile Royal Delta. She has gone winless in six subsequent starts, the last five of which came at 1 1/8 miles and included second-place finishes in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps and Grade 2 Shuvee at Saratoga. Dazzling Move, purchased privately by Miller Racing LLC following her fourth-place finish in the 2024 Rampart, comes into the Rampart idle since finishing a disappointing and well-beaten third as the 4-5 favorite over a muddy track in the Grade 3 Delaware Handicap on Sept. 28. :: Play Gulfstream Park with confidence! Claret Beret also been freshened a bit off a discouraging effort when finishing fifth as the 8-5 choice in the Grade 3 Princess Rooney here on Sept. 20. “The question is whether Claret Beret can come back to her best form,” said Joseph. “Her best race was at a one-turn mile. If she comes back to that form, I think she wins this race.” Joseph was referring to Claret Beret’s 19 3/4-length victory in a one-mile overnight handicap here on May 11, for which she earned a 95 Beyer Speed Figure. :: Get Gulfstream Park Clocker Reports from Mike Welsch and the Clocker Team. She was then sidelined for eight months after registering an easy allowance win going a mile here last spring. She returned to finish a tiring and well-beaten sixth as a 4-5 favorite in a six-furlong allowance dash four weeks ago at Churchill Downs. Grand Job is trained by Bill Mott, whose Unrivaled Belle won the 2010 Rampart – run in March of that year – as a prelude to her victory less than eight months later in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, which was then known as the Ladies’ Classic. Grand Job will face former stablemate Sterling Silver on Friday. Sterling Silver was transferred by owner Mark Anderson from Mott to Anthony Margotta Jr. following a come-from-behind, two-length victory in the 6 1/2-furlong Iroquois for New York-breds on Oct. 25 at Aqueduct. Sterling Silver, who began her career with former trainer Tom Albertrani, was a multiple statebred stakes winner for Mott. She has also proven quite competitive when stepping into open company over the years, having finished third in each of the last two renewals of the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom and second, beaten less than a length by Jody’s Pride, earlier this season in the Grade 2 Ruffian. “Mark [Anderson] said he wanted to have her stabled at the track for the Rampart and Inside Information and asked if I’d take her,” Margotta said. “Billy [Mott] did a great job with her and sent her to me in great condition. Her works have been terrific since she’s been here. Javier [Castellano] came in and breezed her last week and said she’s as good as she’s ever been, and he would know, since he’s ridden and won on her before.” One Magic Philly also looms a major factor off her second-place finish in the Grade 3 Chilukki last month at Churchill Downs. One Magic Philly is presently trained by Brendan Walsh but was a Grade 3 winner with Phil D’Amato at age 3. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
