Darley buys Group 1 winner New Approach

EmailSheikh Mohammed al-Maktoum has purchased dual Group 1 winner New Approach outright and also has added Group 1 performers Regal Flush and Sagara to his stable, according to a Racing Post report.

Maktoum privately purchased his initial half-interest in New Approach from owner Jackie Bolger in September. Bolger is the wife of New Approach's trainer, Jim Bolger. Maktoum's chief bloodstock advisor, John Ferguson, told the Racing Post that Darley recently completed a private deal for the Bolgers' remaining half-interest in the 2-year-old Galileo colt and will keep him in training in 2008.

Jim Bolger will continue to train New Approach, who most recently captured the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Oct. 20 and is pointing for the 2000 Guineas next spring.

The Maktoum family's Godolphin racing operation also has purchased Regal Flush, a 3-year-old Sakhee colt who finished fourth to Lucarno in the St. Leger in September, from Cheveley Park Stud, and Sagara, third in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, from the Stavros Niarchos family.
