Darjina, Finsceal Beo meeting again

Darjina and Finsceal Beo will attempt to get back on the winning track when they clash in the Group 1, $396,000 Falmouth Stakes on Wednesday, opening day of Newmarket's three-day July meeting.

The first meeting between the two multiple Group 1-winning fillies came when Darjina eked out a head victory in last year's French 1000 Guineas. Trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre, Darjina has finished ahead of her Jim Bolger-trained rival three times since then, but has been a luckless second in three Group 1 outings vs. colts this season: the Dubai Duty Free, the Prix d'Ispahan and the Queen Anne Stakes. This return to female company should enable her to return to the winner's circle.

Finsceal Beo trailed home last of nine, beaten 27 lengths, in the 1 1 /4-mile Pretty Polly Stakes on June 28. She will appreciate the return to a mile, but this will be her third race in 24 days. Bigger threats to Darjina loom in the Coronation Stakes runner-up Infallible and Heaven Sent, second in the Windsor Forest Stakes.
