Daredevil, training at Palm Beach Downs on Feb. 1, will make his first start since the Breeders' Cup Juvenile in Saturday's seven-furlong Swale.

Daredevil was assigned post 1 for his much-awaited seasonal debut in the $200,000 Swale Stakes, one of three graded stakes for 3-year-olds Saturday at Gulfstream Park.

One of the handful of Kentucky Derby prospects trained by Todd Pletcher, Daredevil will be making his first start since finishing last of 11 as the 5-2 second choice in the Nov. 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. The colt will be ridden by Javier Castellano when facing six others in the seven-furlong Swale.

From the rail, this is the field for the Grade 2 Swale, which is not a Kentucky Derby points race: Daredevil, Senor Grits, Ready for Rye, Twotwentyfive A, Souper Colossal, Grand Bili, and X Y Jet.

As the winner of the Grade 1 Champagne last fall, Daredevil figures as a solid favorite, with Souper Colossal, the winner of an ungraded turf-sprint stakes in his first start of the year, the likely second choice.

It was announced Wednesday that a minority interest in Daredevil has been sold to China Horse Club by partners Let’s Go Stable and WinStar Farm.

The Swale is carded as the 10th of 12 Saturday races. The two other graded races are twin turf stakes: The Herecomesthebride and Palm Beach, both Grade 3 events worth $150,000, are carded as the fifth and 11th races.
