SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - A $205,000 no-guarantee season to Claiborne Farm stallion Danzig was the top lot at Friday night's Stallion Access sale of stallion seasons and shares in Saratoga.

The auction, conducted by Fasig-Tipton's subsidiary Stallion Access, sold 33 stallion seasons for a total of $963,500 and an average price of $29,197. The company also sold two stallion shares, one an interest in Gulch for $112,000 and the other a Cozzene share that brought $70,000. Three other shares - in Not for Love, Polish Numbers, and Rodeo - went unsold at $72,000, $34,000, and $14,000, respectively.

The $205,000 Danzig season was one of two no-guarantee 2003 seasons offered to the stallion. The other brought $180,000. The second-highest price for a season overall was $200,000 for a 2003 mating to Kingmambo.
