Danzatrice, shown winning the Parx Oaks on May 2, lost a shoe during last Saturday's Grade 1 Acorn at Belmont but came out of her fourth-place finish in good shape.

Danzatrice lost her left front shoe and grabbed herself during last Saturday’s Grade 1 Acorn but came out of her fourth-place finish in good shape, according to Parx-based trainer Cathal Lynch.

Danzatrice tracked the early pace three wide in the one-mile Acorn, dropped back a bit on the far turn, then rallied to finish fourth.

“I was scared when I saw her start to back up because I know how good she is,” Lynch said. “She lost her left front shoe up on the turn, which is when she dropped back. Then she switched back to her right lead and started coming again. To me, she certainly showed she belongs with those fillies.”

Lynch said he hasn’t decided on a next race for Danzatrice, a daughter of Dunkirk owned by the Gainesway Stable of Antony Beck.

“I don’t have any specific plans, but we are going to look at the Delaware Oaks, the Monmouth Oaks, and the Cotillion,” Lynch said. “She likes the track here at Parx.”
