ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Plate Trial Stakes winner Danish Dynaformer has been made the 3-1 morning-line favorite and will start from post 7 in a field of 14 Canadian-bred 3-year-olds for the 156th running of the $1 million Queen’s Plate on Sunday at Woodbine.

Danish Dynaformer has won three of his last four starts and finished third in the Grade 3 Marine Stakes on May 16. He and stablemate Billy’s Star (post 5) will be looking to give trainer Roger Attfield a record ninth Queen’s Plate victory and his first since Not Bourbon scored in 2008.

“I think Danish Dynaformer could be any kind of horse,” Attfield said. “He seems like he has lots of stamina. He has a huge cruising speed. With a horse like him, you just don’t want to get in any trouble.”

Marine Stakes winner Shaman Ghost was made the 7-2 second choice and will start from the rail for trainer Brian Lynch and owner Stronach Stables.

Trainer Mark Casse will be looking to double up after winning the 2014 Queen’s Plate with Lexie Lou. Casse will send out Conquest Boogaloo and has supplemented Oakton for owners Bill and Vicki Poston. Conquest Boogaloo will start from post 8, while Oakton will start from post 2.

Conquest Curlinate also was expected to be entered in the Queen’s Plate but was withdrawn Thursday after picking up a minor injury during training. Conquest Curlinate veered sharply while galloping to avoid another horse who was backing up in front of him.

“He avoided a collision,” Casse said. “It could have been disastrous. He wrenched his ankle. He seems better now, but I’m not going to take any chances.”

Woodbine Oaks winner Academic is one of three runners in the field for trainer Reade Baker. Academic will leave from post 4 under jockey Justin Stein. Breaking Lucky (post 9) and Bear At Last (post 13) also will be looking to give Baker his first Queen’s Plate win.

Rounding out the field are Ault (post 3), Sweet Grass Creek (6), Easy Indygo (10), Portree (11), Milwaukee Mist (12), and Ami’s Flatter (14).

The Queen’s Plate is complemented by a strong undercard that includes the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes, the Grade 2 Highlander Stakes, the Grade 3 Singspiel Stakes, and the $150,000 Clarendon Stakes. Post time for the Queen’s Plate is 5:38 p.m. Eastern, and first post Sunday is at noon.
